Roger on the radio “Live” at DIsneyland
Among the columns that I did for Jim Hill Media in 2005, was a collection of memories of first visits to Disneyland. That was a lot of fun hearing from people about their special times with friends and family. And it happened that those memories caught the attention of the the folks at the Canadian Broadcasting Company Radio One in Saskatchewan.
So, we set up a live radio remote from Disneyland and away we went. Host Jennifer Gibson (on the Noon Edition program) and I spent a hour chatting with callers to the show with assistance from Norma Perez and Tim O’Day of the Disneyland Press and Public Relations staff.
Friday, July 15th was a busy day at Disneyland as Space Mountain had it’s official re-”launching” that morning. There were plenty of radio stations doing remotes from Tomorrowland that day. We were set up directly across from the Startrader, under what had been the Rocket Rods and Peoplemover loading and unloading station.
So to start the hour, Norma helped out until Tim arrived from other press duties about the Park. It was a great time and I enjoyed being to share my own Disneyland memories as well as hear those of the CBC radio guests.
So, without further eloquence, here is the broadcast in the Quicktime format. If you don’t have the Quicktime Player, you can get it free here from Apple. Enjoy!
And yes, that’s Roger, during his first Disneyland visit in 1966.
