Hubs, hubs, we got hubs! And USB toys, too!
Odds are that you have a plethora of devices that connect to your personal computer of choice using the Universal Service Bus or USB connector. I don’t understand why, but most, if not all, manufacturers don’t give us enough easily accessed USB ports.
So, that means we have to make use of some kind of hub to extend our connection capabilities. But that doesn’t mean that it has to be boring. They are certainly some great choice out there waiting to be made use of.
So I thought I might share some of the ones that I’ve seen about. Some of the more, shall we say unique, USB hubs that you might choose to make use of.
Now the first one that caught my eye is actually a Firewire hub. And a pretty cool little device, too. An homage to a true pop culture icon, the Big “G” - The Hubzilla.
I found this one for sale on eBay in an auction that ends Sunday, December 2nd. Just the thing to have on your desk to get someone’s attention. Yes, it’s a powered hub and the eyes glow red, too!
While we’re discussing pop culture icons, how about this one? Something that has a legion of fans for many years!
Yes, the Tardis from the BBC series “Doctor Who” complete with sound effect and flashing blue light.
Maybe something in a holiday vein is more to your liking?
Well, here you go! A four port flashing Santa hub.
Maybe you’re a bit of a motorhead. Well, we got ya covered!
Try on this Japanese motorcycle engine hub! It even vibrates and make noise like the real thing.
And from the same folks, Solid Alliance, something for the foodie crowd!
How about a whole plate of USB Sushi flash drives?
Maybe something a bit more conventional but still fun?
The Kito Design Spikey USB Hub is a bit of fun and even can be a throwback to naval mines if you go that direction.
Finally, who can resist a bit of product skullduggery?
This all in one media card reader and USB 2.0 hub found on eBay certainly bears more than a passing resemblance to a certain Emeryville designed race car, doesn’t it? All it needs is a bit of paint and stickers to be ready to run!
It only starts here. Go do a Google search for USB toys and have fun looking for just the right one for your desktop!
